Aircraft model comes with a removable pilot and display stand. The canopy slides open and the landing gear is fully retractable.
The model is a replica of the Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk 43-23237. On 29 July 1944, 80 Squadron RAAF recieved the aircraft and assigned an ADF number A29-671 and letters BU-O. “Angry Bee” was the name given to the aircraft by Lt Ken Goldring.
From mid-summer 1944 American and Australian forces were engaged in battles to drive Japanese forces out of Dutch New Guinea. Noemfoor Island was a major goal because of three airfields that could be used to support the Allied advance.
